Classes in the Chinese Physical Arts

Two Rivers Gong Fu empowers people to optimize their own health by learning and incorporating the ancient practices of Chinese physical culture into their daily lives. Our seminars focus on qigong, internal martial arts, and Chinese manual therapy – all elements of yang sheng, or “The Practice of Nourishing Life.”

Stefan Grace

Founder & Instructor

Stefan Grace is an instructor in Chinese physical culture accredited by the North American Tang Shou Tao Association. His knowledge comes from genuine lineages of teaching – learning directly from teachers in clinical and training hall settings – over the past 25 years. As a licensed practitioner of acupuncture, Chinese medicine and Chinese manual therapy at Confluence Acupuncture in Brattleboro, he has over three decades of direct experience with the healing efficacy of these physical culture practices.

“Giving medicine after the illness has arisen, trying to put things in order after chaos has erupted, this is like digging a well after you're thirsty, or casting weapons after the fight has begun. Isn't it too late?”
- Huang Di Neijing

Traditional physical culture practices are one of the best ways to maintain your health proactively, which prevents illness from arising in the first place. This is what makes them a vital part of Chinese medicine.

Physical Culture

Qi Gong and internal martial arts are based on the principles of relaxed, intentional movements that are coordinated with the breath. When done properly, this results in coordinated, controlled movements that bring about mental calm and awareness. Open to everyone– learning these practices leads to better overall health through improved coordination, embodiment and mental clarity.

Manual Therapy

Tuina is an ancient form of Chinese bodywork that is used to improve energy flow and encourage healing, and is used to treat a wide variety of ailments. Similar to acupuncture, Tuina works to move energy along the body’s three-dimensional system of channels & vessels. Classes are for everyone from lay people to professional massage therapists and acupuncturists.

“I stepped into Stefan’s Qigong class on a whim and a desire to learn full body energy work. He is incredibly skilled and his approach in teaching a newbie like myself was patient, kind, and centered around getting comfortable with the flow of movements. His classes left me with a calmer mind and the lovely energy boost I was seeking."
